Our mission

IU Realty advances Indiana University's mission by delivering non-academic infrastructure at industry speed--generating sustainable revenue, supporting innovation, and catalyzing economic growth to unlock value and strengthen Indiana's statewide and regional economies.

Our strategic pursuits

  • Strategic revenue engine: IU Realty will become a critical, long-term financial pillar of IU Inc., designed to generate revenue for the university and provide an alternative model for delivering non-academic infrastructure to the university system.
  • Expanded operational scope: Serve as a specialized subsidiary to IU Inc., providing a complimentary strategic function to IU Capital Planning and Facilities by delivering primarily off-campus infrastructure traditionally outside the University's standard scope.
  • Agility at industry scale: Execute non-academic projects—including Innovation Districts, housing, parking, and research facilities—at a commercial pace and scale to enhance the broader university ecosystem and support the pursuits of the 2030 strategic plan.
  • Value unlocked: Leverage a flexible model to secure new revenue streams and accommodate specialized tenant needs, such as high-security intellectual property requirements and commercialization "landing spaces" for university spinouts, accelerators, and startups across industry verticals.
  • Economic catalyst: Act as a streamlined gateway for economic development. IU Realty allows the University to meet industry demand for co-location and/or research spaces.
