The big picture

Amplifying IU’s $1 billion research enterprise

IU Inc. represents a new path forward for IU, creating a front door for industry engagement.

IU Inc. will convert innovation into tangible economic and societal impact through revenue-generating activities, reducing barriers to collaboration, enabling new partnership models that are difficult to pursue within traditional university structures, and expanding opportunities for faculty, staff and students. These include large-scale industry collaborations, consortium-led federal grants, applied research initiatives and joint ventures that accelerate discovery, commercialization and economic impact.

The organization will also enhance IU’s ability to compete for large-scale, multi-organization research projects, including public-private partnerships and consortium-led federal grants, in high-demand fields such as biosciences, microelectronics, artificial intelligence and national security.
